students and phd candidates

The team’s goal is to develop and implement solutions that support young researchers in developing their scientific competencies, initiating research projects, participating in mobility programs, and effectively planning their academic career paths. The team is also responsible for identifying barriers to scientific development and recommending corrective and supportive measures.

Dr. Agata Karska is a researcher at the Institute of Astronomy at the Faculty of Physics, Astronomy, and Applied Computer Science at Nicolaus Copernicus University. She obtained her PhD from Leiden University in the Netherlands in 2014. She is a winner of the L’Oreal, UNESCO and Christine Nusslein-Volhard Foundation’s “For Women in Science” award in Germany (in 2012) and the “Polityka” Scientific Award in the category of exact sciences (in 2015). In 2017-2020, she received a scholarship from the Minister of Science and Higher Education for outstanding young scientists. For her activities in the field of university internationalization, she received the “Stars of Internationalization” award (2019) and the Minister’s award for outstanding organizational achievements (2020). Since 2019, she has been leading the Molecular Astrophysics Lab (MA-LAB) research group, funded by the First TEAM program of the Foundation for Polish Science, the National Science Centre (SONATA, SONATA BIS), and the National Agency for Academic Exchange (Academic International Partnerships, PROM, Bekker). From April 2019, Dr. Agata Karska served as the rector’s representative for scientific excellence, and then, from November 2019 to August 31, 2020, as the rector’s representative for the implementation of the research university strategy. On November 1, 2019, she was also appointed chair of the team coordinating the implementation of the Research University strategy. In the 2020-2022 term, she was a member of the 12-person Scientific Policy Committee appointed by the Minister of Science and Higher Education. From 2020 to 2024, she was a member of the UMK University Council.

Vice-Dean for Organization and Education at the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences, Nicolaus Copernicus University, assistant professor at the Institute of Pedagogical Sciences, member of the Polish Accreditation Committee (2016–2019 and 2020–2023) in the following teams – Social and Legal Sciences Team and Teacher Education Team. Director of the Center for Academic Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. Doctor of Biological Sciences. President of the Scientia Thorunensia Foundation. Co-founder of the eDoktorant.pl portal, author of the Faceci w Kitlach podcast, expert of the Polish Accreditation Committee, Innovation Coach, and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. Trainer, organizer of scientific conferences, with extensive experience in applying for and implementing educational grants. He conducts training in soft skills such as public speaking, storytelling, and personal branding. He is actively involved in foundations where he has completed dozens of scientific, educational, research, and social projects. In the past, he was associated with the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Poznań, where he explored the topics of intercellular transport and “immortality.”
As part of the team, he is responsible in particular for aspects related to technology transfer, scientific communication, and cooperation with the socio-economic environment.

Doctor of Social Sciences in Management and Quality Sciences, graduate of Automation and Robotics at Gdańsk University of Technology (M.Sc.) and Economics at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń (M.A.). He also completed postgraduate studies in project management at the Warsaw School of Economics. Graduate of the Diploma in Professional Marketing program. Certified digital marketing specialist (DiMAQ Professional).

He has been involved in local government activities for many years: in 2019–2023, he served as Chairman of the Nicolaus Copernicus University Doctoral Student Council. In the National Representation of Doctoral Students: Vice-Chairman of the Board (2021), project management representative (2022), and member of the Board (2023-2024). Currently a member of the KRD Advisory Council. Expert on behalf of employers of the Polish Accreditation Committee. Secretary of District Council No. 3 Rudak.

Owner of the dr MARKETER brand. He cooperates with local Social Economy Support Centers and the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Chamber of Crafts and Entrepreneurship. He runs the Marketing dla Przedsiębiorstw marketing agency. Currently associated with the Business Hub of the Faculty of Economics and Management at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, where he works as a grant specialist.

Assistant professor at the Department of Research on Science and Higher Education at the Institute of Sociology of Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. His research interests focus on the sociology of education, in particular the issue of social inequalities in access to education, processes of internal differentiation at various levels of the education system, and environmental conditions affecting the functioning of schools. In his work, he analyzes both the structural mechanisms of inequality reproduction and the practical consequences of educational policy for various social groups.

Within the team, he is particularly responsible for aspects related to technology transfer, scientific communication, and cooperation with the socio-economic environment.

Expert in higher education and science law. Author of a commentary on the Higher Education and Science Act and scientific publications on this subject. He conducts training courses, in particular in the areas of promotion procedures, education quality evaluation, doctoral matters, student affairs, and the student benefits system. He served as the Doctoral Student Rights Ombudsman of the National Doctoral Student Representation in 2021-2025. He completed his legal training at the District Chamber of Legal Advisers in Toruń and obtained the title of legal adviser.

He gained experience in the field of higher education and science law by holding numerous positions at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń and representing students and doctoral students on a national level.

Winner of a special award in the Rising Stars Lawyers – Leaders of Tomorrow 2023 competition.

Specialist in higher education and science law and trademark law. She completed her legal training at the District Chamber of Legal Advisers in Lublin and obtained the title of legal adviser. A graduate of the Doctoral School of Social Sciences at the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin in the field of legal sciences, she is currently preparing to defend her doctoral dissertation. Spokesperson for the Rights of Doctoral Students of the National Representation of Doctoral Students, Vice-Chair of the KRD for the 2023 and 2024 terms, Chairwoman of the KRD Legal Office from 2022 to 2025, Deputy Ombudsman for Doctoral Students of the KRD in 2021-2025. Author of scientific publications in the field of industrial property law and higher education and science law.

Actively involved in social activities during her education, serving, among others, in the self-government bodies of UMCS doctoral students, as a member of the UMCS Senate and Senate committees, a member of the UMCS Doctoral School of Social Sciences Council, as well as a member of recruitment and scholarship committees. Coordinator and participant in numerous scientific and social projects.

Member of the Presidium of the Mediation Center and volunteer at the “Znam Prawo” Foundation operating at the Lublin Bar Association.

Honored with the “Serce za Serce” award from the Lublin Bar Association for pro bono legal work.
